Romans 12:2 CEB: “Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature.”
For many, college is a time of discovery, of both oneself and of the world around them. Throughout this process of discovery, a student is exposed to new people, cultures, ideas, and practices, which hopefully cumulate into experiences that transform the student into a developed and informed thinker. Unfortunately, sometimes the things we’re exposed to are tempting to embrace but may not be the best thing for us. Whether it be the freedom we have away from home to stay up until 3am watching Netflix, or that group of friends that you really want to be a part of, but may do somethings you’re not comfortable with, it’s often hard to turn away from the temptations that surround us. To not only find out the path God has for us, but to also stick to that path, we must allow ourselves to embrace God and His teachings so that we can be transformed by them.
God, allow me to be transformed by you, so that I might not only be shown the plan you have for me, but the way I need to live to follow it. Help me discern Your will and the will of the people around me, so that I may be sure in the choices I make.
